Pay Per Click Advertising And How To Make It Work For You

The fastest way to get good targeted traffic to your website online is via pay per click advertising. Pay per click (PPC) is something that is very easy to get started with, and you can get tons of targeted traffic within the next 24 hours. Now you can definitely expect to see a lot of traffic if you bid on the right keyword phrases, but the amount of sales that you can expect to see depends on your offer and the mechanics of your internet marketing campaign.

There are 2 major pay per click search engines out there:

1) Google AdWords (the largest) 2) Microsoft Adcenter (the second largest)

I personally don't recommend any other PPC service other than these 2. You will hear people say that they get great results using other PPC networks, but they only do this to help boost their affiliate sales by collaborating with the pay per click company. With these 2 sites, you can't go wrong.

Before you start spending money on pay per click ads, do a bit of research of your niche. Research the keywords that people are searching for to get an understanding of what their problem is. The more research that you can do about your target audience, the more you will be able to get an idea of the kind of product that you can find or create for them.

Pay per click is something that is very good for getting the traffic and sales that you are looking for. But before you start running any pay per click ads, you need to know that it isn't a "get rich quick" method of marketing. You can either use it to test out a campaign, sales letter, or squeeze page - or you can use it 100% to get more new traffic and sales to your website. Both methods have their pros and cons, so you will want to make sure that you select the right strategy for you.

The first thing that you will want to do no matter if you use AdWords or Microsoft Adcenter is to set a daily budget. You don't want to bet the farm - especially if this is your first time using it. It's best to set a "daily" budget as opposed to a "monthly" budget because monthly budgets are typically set by those who have a large advertising budget.

Start off small and see if you can make your campaign work for you on a daily basis. If you see great results, scale up your advertising efforts until you reach a point where you're having so much success, that you can finally let the campaign run on a monthly basis - while still turning a profit with your campaign.

Pay per click advertising is a great marketing concept, and it allows people to get search engine traffic without knowing a thing about search engine optimization. I'm willing to bet that you can use PPC to take your online business to the next level simply and easily. This is something that is definitely worthwhile checking out.

Good luck with using these tips to earn the money that you're looking for with pay per click advertising.

Mini-Series: "How To Start Making Money From Your Website" 1: Advertising

A lot of services you may come across or sign up to, commonly provide good information on how to make more money from your website.....they assume you are already making some to begin with. Some of them can go into great detail which is great, but it doesn't help you if you are starting from scratch. How can you go from nothing, to making money from your website?

This mini-series will offer some advice, networks and services, to give you a head start and get you on your way to bringing in some money from your site.

This particular entry in the series is going to focus on advertising, in essence, offering something related to your site, to your visitors and receiving money based on a click/action/impression.

1. Pay-per-click (PPC) Advertising

Exactly what it says on the tin - you get paid every time an advert is clicked.

Google AdSense is the most popular option under this category, but there are also others. Basically you need to sign up with the network and paste some code snippets on your website. The network will then serve contextual ads (either text or images) relevant to your website, and you will earn a certain amount of money for every click.

The profitability of PPC advertising depends on the general traffic levels of the website and, most importantly, on the click-through rate (CTR) and cost per click (CPC). The CTR depends on the design of the website. Ads placed abode the fold or blended with content, for instance, tend to get higher CTRs. The CPC, on the other hand, depends on the nice of the website. Mortgages, financial products and college education are examples of profitable niches (clicks worth a couple of dollars are not rare), while tech-related topics tend to receive a smaller CPC (sometimes as low as a couple of cents per click).

The source of the traffic can also affect the overall CTR rate. Organic traffic (the one that comes from search engines) tends to perform well because these visitors were already looking for something, and they tend to click on ads more often. Social media traffic, on the other hand, presents terribly low CTRs because these visitors are tech-savvy and they just ignore ads.

Popular CPC advertising networks:

• Google Adsense

• Yahoo! Publisher Network (YPN)

• BidVertiser

• Chitika

• Clicksor

2. CPM Advertising Networks

Cost per impression - you get paid every time an advertiser's advert is displayed to a visitor of you site.

CPM advertising networks behave pretty much as PPC networks, except that you get paid according to the number of impressions (i.e., page views) that the ads displayed on your site will generate. CPM stands for Cost per Mile, and it refers to the cost for 1,000 impressions.

A blog that generates 100,000 page views monthly displaying an advertising banner with a $1 CPM, therefore, will earn $100 monthly.

CPM rates vary with the network, the position of the ad and the format. The better the network, the higher the CPM rate (because they have access to more advertisers). The closer you put the ad to the top of the page, the higher the CPM. As a general rule: "The bigger the format (in terms of pixels), the higher the CPM."

You can get as low as $0,10 and as high as $10 per 1,000 impressions (more in some special cases). CPM advertising tends to work well on websites with a high page views per visitor ratio (e.g., online forums, magazines and so on).

List of popular CPM advertising networks:

• Casale Media

• Burst Media

• Value Click

• Advertising.com

• Tribal Fusion

• Right Media

3. Direct Banner Advertising

Selling your own advertising space is one of the most lucrative monetization methods, first and foremost, because it enables you to cut out the middleman commissions and to determine your own rates. The most popular banner formats on the web are the 728×90 leader board, the 120×600 skyscraper, the 300×250 rectangle and the 125×125 button.

The difficulty of direct banner advertising is that you need to have a big audience to get qualified advertisers, and you will need to spend time managing the sales process, the banners and the payments.

Starting the process to make money from your website is readily available, advertising on the site is quick and easy and you can mix and match the various forms of advert (PPC, CPM or banner ads) that best suit your website and your visitors. Making money online is a numbers game. The single most important aspect of making money from your website is visitors. The more visitors you have, the higher your potential clicks your ads will receive. The more visitors you have, the more impressions your ads will have. More visitors = more money.

Pay Per Click Advertising: Why to Consider

Maximization of cost efficiency of any PPC (Pay per click) campaign tends to be possible through placing higher bids. Bidding costs involved in this campaign reflect heavily on SEO consultants who seek to sidestep them. Aversion of those costs for bid placement is possible only when a solid PPC bid management strategy is prepared.

Search engine optimization consultants underpin two separate campaign strategies. One sect of them thinks that the position their sites achieve in the SERP (search engine results pages) depends highly on the amount that they bid. But, this stance of marketing strategy does not amass comprehensive support. However, major search engines, including Google, Yahoo, or Bing, rely heavily on the quality score of the PPC ads. This quality is the benchmark that helps them determine the appropriate position in results pages.

Big companies can allow their SEO consultants to place high bids; but what about the small companies? Most of them cannot afford to bid high. Nor do they dare to do so as being not sure about the penny they spend in the pay per click search engine campaign is worth it. As a consequence, they look for some other ideas that could help them achieve the same results at significantly minimum spending.

But, does PPC advertising guarantee lasting high traffic flow? In a word, it does not. Unlike organic SEO practices that can yield free traffic for long times, PPC search engine campaign can do it also till one keeps on paying for it. Despite this fact of compulsory higher spending, online marketing specialists are to focus on it. This is why popularity of Google Ad Words still thrives in this way. Benefits that are achievable through this program consequently are as follows:

Quick Ranking: Organic SEO takes time to enhance ranking of a site due to longer times as taken by the search engines' spiders for performing deep crawl of the site. PPC listings bring in quick result as they can be launched much faster.

Competitive Advantage: PPC adds extra traffic to a site, even for highly competitive keyword phrases. Organic SEO efforts take much time to get top 10 listing. In such situation when one has got to achieve an edge over a competitive keyword phrase, one can better save the organic SEO efforts for some other effective targets. One can use the PPC listing strategy in such case instead.

ROI (Return on Investment): PPC helps measure progress easily. If one comes to know of the Cost per Conversion levels through statistics, one can compare the progress of one's site in the light of one's competitor sites.

Use of PPC campaign helps a site appear for keywords the target site selects whenever web users conduct a search using those selected keywords. One can drive one's site to upper crust of search engine results pages by using this strong strategy. The costs it involves, it pays off, quickly, in the form of drawing good traffic volume.
